Prevention of atrocities against civilians, especially women and children

The non-governmental organization “Geneva Call” receives a contribution of CHF 100,000 for its humanitarian commitment to the protection of children and women in armed conflicts.

This will enable Geneva Call to continue its humanitarian efforts and ensure the protection of civilians in cooperation with armed actors. The primary aim is to ensure that non-state armed groups comply with international humanitarian law and international human rights standards. In view of the high number of conflicts worldwide involving various armed actors, this commitment remains relevant. These actors are non-official armed forces that do not feel bound by international standards. The Liechtenstein contribution will enable Geneva Call to enter into confidential dialogues with a large number of groups to prevent the recruitment of child soldiers and to prevent sexual and gender-based violence and to take remedial action.
