New Package Travel Law in Liechtenstein as of February 1, 2020
The new Package Travel Act (LGBl. 2020 No. 18) and Package Travel Ordinance (LGBl. 2020 No. 23) have been in effect in Liechtenstein since February 1, 2020. The new regulations affect traders who are active as providers of package tours, intermediaries of associated travel services, tour operators and travel agents. Particularly noteworthy are the new regulations on insolvency insurance. These regulations are designed to ensure that travelers get their money back in the event of insolvency. Traders who offer and perform services under the Package Travel Act are required to provide proof of their insolvency insurance. The fact sheet from the Office of National Economy provides information on the new regulations and offers assistance in applying the new Package Travel Regulation and the insolvency insurance provisions contained therein.
Businesses offering and providing services under the new Package Travel Act are required to provide the Office of National Economy with the necessary information and documentation regarding insolvency insurance.
