School psychological service

The School Psychological Service (SPD) of the Office of Education advises and supports children and young people, parents and guardians, teachers, school management and authorities in the event of school difficulties, learning problems, behavioral difficulties or educational issues. If necessary, it carries out school psychological assessments and helps in crisis situations that may arise in connection with kindergarten or school. In individual cases, it contributes to the optimization of development, to adjustments in support and to changes in behaviour. One area that is increasingly becoming part of the SPD's remit is "Inclusion - one school for all".

Registration is usually carried out by the school in agreement with the parents. However, direct registration by parents is also possible. After an assessment, the results of the investigation and the strategies for change are discussed with those involved. The consent of the parents or legal guardians is required for school psychological assessments or therapies for a child or adolescent. The school psychology service works together with other institutions and specialist agencies and coordinates the measures. School social work is an important cooperation partner. Access to school psychological services is free of charge
