Building technology systems
Energy efficient and ecological Building technology systems
Valid as of 01.01.2023
The installation of energy-efficient and ecological Building technology systems (e.g. heat pumps and wood heating) in residential, industrial and commercial buildings up to 1750m2 EBF is subsidized.
Large-scale systems with more than 1`750 m² EBF, such as for example, large wood chip furnaces, which serve the purpose of the Energy Efficiency Act in a special way, can be considered other-installation.
Funding application/ Construction completion certificate
The funding application and the power of attorney must generally be submitted in full and in paper form, including all attachments. Submissions via email are not sufficient. The content of applications will only be processed once the application documents have been received in full.

The subsidy is based on the energy reference area and the type of building services system. From 01.01.2023 the subsidy for energy reference areas from 0 to 500m2 will be flat-rate. With the help of the calculation tool you can determine your individual subsidy entitlement.
financial support amount/ examples * for buildings up to 500 m² EBF
(Applies to funding applications with receipt from 01.01.2023)
- Heat pump - ground probe CHF 7,544.-
- Heat pump - air CHF 6'352.-
> Additional bonus if a WP-Operation QM
- Pellet furnace CHF 7,714.-
- Central wood heating (+ storage) CHF 9'758.-
> Additional bonus when wood-burning furnaces are equipped with a particle separator
* max. 50% of the additional costs, in the case of companies, the state aid provisions additionally apply
The new, flat-rate subsidy applies from 01.01.2023.
If you have not yet started the work, you can declare any commitment you have received invalid and submit the application under new conditions as of 01.01.2023.
To do this, please send us an e-mail (from 01.01.2023 at the earliest) stating your name, address and file number of the funding assurance to [email protected] confirming that
- the existing assurance is declared invalid,
- the measure has not yet been commenced, and
- the measure is to be promoted according to the new funding conditions.
You will receive after a short review from the Energy Agency a new funding assurance with the new funding amount. After receiving the new funding assurance, you can start with the construction of your home automation system.
- Only new, state-of-the-art plant and plant components and equipment are to be used.
- The hot water preparation has to be done primarily with the subsidized home automation system, thermal solar collectors or a heat pump boiler. Pure electric boilers are not permitted in subsidized systems.
- Electrically operated pipe trace heating and hot water circulation systems are to be connected with a timer, ideally via an all-pole disconnection point (socket). This is because pipe trace heating systems are large consumers of electricity and should be operated in a targeted manner. If there is a disconnection point (socket), a consumption measurement can be made and quite simply unplugged in the event of unnecessary operation / service.
- For hot water circulation circulating pumps energy efficiency class A (EEI ≤ 0.23) are to be installed. When installing a circulation pump that does not meet the energy efficiency class A (EEI ≤ 0.23), the subsidy is reduced by CHF 300.- per pump.
- Heat pump boilers with a COP of at least 3.2 according to EN 16147 at test condition A20/W10-55 are to be installed.
- The heating and the hot water systems shall be provided with continuous thermal insulation, including all distribution lines. The minimum insulation thicknesses are to be taken from the following table:
Nominal pipe size DN | Zoll | λ > 0.03 W/mK | λ ≤ 0.03 W/mK |
up to ≤ 0.05 W/mK | |||
10-15 | 3⁄8" - 1⁄2" | 40 mm | 30 mm |
20-32 | 3⁄4" - 1 1⁄4" | 50 mm | 40 mm |
40-50 | 1 1⁄2" - 2" | 60 mm | 50 mm |
65-80 | 2 1⁄2" - 3" | 80 mm | 60 mm |
100-150 | 4" - 6" | 100 mm | 80 mm |
175-200 | 7" - 8" | 120 mm | 80 mm |
Not subsidized are building services systems, if they serve as an auxiliary heating to an inherently sufficient (monovalent) heating. Decisive in the promotion is the type of home automation system and the size of the building object.
Forfeiture of the claim The claim for the payment of subsidies expires if the measures are started before a legally binding assurance of the subsidies is available.
Additional heating Household technology systems are not promoted if they serve as an additional heating to an inherently sufficient (monovalent) heating. Decisive in the promotion is the type of building services system and the size of the building object.
Commencement of construction / forfeiture of the claim The right to receive funding expires if the measures are started before a legally binding assurance of funding is available.
Refunding Funding contributions are only paid once for each measure; renewed funding of the same measure is only possible after 20 years.
Project author Funding contributions will only be paid if expert planning and execution of the measures is guaranteed.
Termination The assurance of the subsidy is limited in time according to Art. 25 EEG. The measure shall be started within one year from the decision on the granting of subsidies and shall be completed within two years.
Swinging other regulations The measure is not subsidized if it is mandatory due to other legal regulations according to Art 4. para 2a EEG (e.g. superstructure plan, air conditioning, swimming pool heating, conversion, etc.).
