Strengthening international human rights structures

At the European level, Liechtenstein's commitment to the reform of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) is noteworthy. Both at the political and expert level, Liechtenstein advocates for ensuring the functionality of  the ECHR as a central pillar of human rights protection in Europe. This involves creating structures, particularly to enable the ECtHR to handle the large number of pending individual complaints effectively. Liechtenstein's proposals for reform have repeatedly been incorporated into negotiation results and reform measures in recent years.

Liechtenstein advocates for the strengthening of human rights structures at the UN. In the framework of the OSCE, Liechtenstein focuses on supporting the work of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), whose most important task is election observation.
