Visas
Requirements for entering Liechtenstein
Switzerland and Liechtenstein generally share the same entry requirements. The provisions concerning persons requiring visas are largely identical (see also Ordinance on the Procedure of Entry and Visa). These provisions are subject to alterations based on bilateral or multilateral agreements.
Visa requirements for entering Liechtenstein
Individuals requiring a visa can submit a visa application to the Swiss representation in their country of residence. The decision on the application lies partly with the Swiss authorities and partly with the Migration and Passports Office. To determine whether a visa is required, please visit www.sem.admin.ch or check theLiechtenstein Law Gazette LGBl. 2008 Nr. 315.
Entering other countries
If you are interested in the entry requirements for other countries, please consult a travel agency or the embassy of the country you plan to enter.
Staying in Liechtenstein
The Website of the Migration and Passports Office describes the various options for living and working in Liechtenstein. The Migration and Passports Office also issues the relevant permits.
Registration of Liechtenstein citizens abroad
Liechtenstein citizens residing abroad for more than 12 months should register with the competent local diplomatic or consular representation to ensure that they receive consular protection in emergency situations. In countries where Liechtenstein has no representation of its own, Switzerland takes over the representation of Liechtenstein's interests on the basis of an agreement of 1919. If Switzerland is not represented in a country, the respective Austrian representation takes over the consular support of Liechtenstein citizens. Liechtenstein citizens should appear in person at the competent representation and identify themselves by means of a passport. If a personal visit is not possible, the required forms and documents can be ordered from the competent representation by telephone or obtained from its website. In emergency situations, such as natural disasters or terrorist attacks, registration helps the local official bodies to establish contact quickly, search for missing persons or provide rapid assistance.
