Medical control examination
Based on Art. 7 para. 1 and Art. 27 para. 1 VZV, the holders of a driver's license as well as driving instructors and traffic experts must undergo a medical examination by a medical examiner as follows:
Cat. C, D, C1, D1, BPT (professional passenger transport), traffic experts and driving instructors
- Up to the age of 50 every 5 years
- After age 50 every 3 years
- After the age of 75 every other year
All categories
- After the age of 75
- After serious accidental injury or after serious illness
Please note that the new driver's license in credit card format is limited in each case until the next medical checkup.
The examination costs in the amount of CHF 120.00 are at your expense and are to be paid directly to the doctor.
Please bring the examination form to the responsible doctor for the medical check-up.
Raising the age limit from 70 to 75 years of age from January 1, 2019

If you wish to waive your right to drive motor vehicles or the categories of driver's license that require the checkup, please complete the waiver and send it to the Office of Road Traffic together with your driver's license.
