Health promotion in communities
Communities are the living space of all of us. Keeping them healthy is a comprehensive task that involves many people. On the one hand, there are those responsible in the municipalities, the heads of the municipalities, the municipal councils as well as the experts in administration in and various commissions. But the population also has responsibilities and tasks. Acting with foresight is crucial for maintaining the health of our living environment.
Healthy villages
It is the structures of our villages that contribute a large part to whether we can stay healthy for a long time. A village center that we can walk to, so that we can easily do our daily shopping, promotes health through daily exercise.
The social contact that this creates, which is important for our mental health, thus arises by itself. The integration of young and old, of new and established citizens arises in a natural flow of daily encounters and local events, and a vibrant society is born.
Health Commissions
The Health Commissions in Liechtenstein municipalities make a valuable contribution to keeping the population healthy.
The commissions are diverse in composition, so that a wide range of knowledge and experience is available. The people in charge know their village very well. They recognize which priorities are relevant for the promotion of general health and where measures can be implemented. Twice a year, those responsible meet with the Office of Public Health to exchange ideas and promote cooperation and synergies.
Structural Health Promotion
The use of public space is a topical issue. Related to this is the quality of our environment and the built structures for which municipalities are responsible. The Office of Public Health is committed to health-promoting conditions. If these are implemented, an added value for the environment and the people is created. The Office of Public Health organizes a special event for this purpose every year.
