Agencies involved
On behalf of the government, the Office for Civil Engineering and Geoinformation (Department of Surveying and Geoinformation) organizes the entire surveying and mapping system for Liechtenstein. The main areas of responsibility are as follows:
- Execution or management of the official cadastral survey (new surveys, renewals, periodic updates and mutations)
- Verification and controls of the official cadastral survey
- Development of legal and technical bases
- Determination of the data model (regulation on surveying objects)
- Coordination with the land register
The tasks of the Office of Civil Engineering and Geoinformation are performed in cooperation with the following agencies:
Federal Office of Topography, Bern
For the areas of geodesy and national surveying, there is close cooperation with the Geodesy Division of the Federal Office of Topography. The Federal Directorate of Cadastral Surveying (V+D) is responsible for the control and verification of the official cadastral survey.
Private surveying offices
The work for official surveying is entrusted to patented engineering surveyors. This also includes the updating or the preparation of mutations. One surveyor's office is assigned to each municipality for the updating. Information regarding responsibilities for the individual municipalities can be found here.
Surveying offices are also authorized to submit the data of the official survey.
