"Künstleratelier" Berlin
The country of Liechtenstein has been present in Berlin with a studio since October 1, 2006. Since then, local artists have been given the opportunity to live and work for several months in Berlin, one of the current centers of contemporary art.
Since 2006, various circumstances led to the Office of Cultural Affairs having to move several times with the studio. And thus also apartment search, contract negotiations, relocation and refurnishing the last few years were part of our tasks. Fortunately, Liechtenstein is represented in Berlin with an embassy, which always actively supports us.
In May 2019, the move to the current location on Mariendorfer Damm took place. Thus, the studio is located somewhat out of town, but is excellently connected to public transport. In addition, the premises are ideally suited as a place to work and live for the stay of the creative artists.
"Künstleratelier" Rome
In spring 2024 the Office of Cultural Affairs was able to offer a three-month studio stay in Rome to the artist Manfred Naescher from Liechtenstein. This is made possible by an exchange project between Liechtenstein and St. Gallen, in which the project partners make their foreign studios available to each other for certain periods of time. The aim is to promote experiences outside the usual environment, which prove to be significant and fruitful time and again.
In September 2024, the "Österreichisches Kulturforum in Rom" was able to offer Liechtenstein a one-month residency. The residency was awarded to the Liechtenstein artist Tamara Kaufmann.
