In case of pregnancy, the costs of the necessary examinations during pregnancy and within 10 weeks after confinement, as well as obstetric care by the doctor or midwife are covered. However, the insured person must have belonged to a health insurance fund for at least 270 days before the birth. Corresponding insurance periods with another insurance fund in the EEA area are credited.
Employed mothers are entitled to 20 weeks of daily allowance, of which at least 16 weeks must be after the birth.
