COVID-19 Vaccinations

Currently

As of July 1, 2024, vaccinations against SARS-CoV-2 will be transfered to regular stuctures. This means that in the future COVID-19-vaccinations can be offered by GPs in the same way as vaccinations against influenza.

Vaccines adapted to the Omikron variant XBB.1.5 are currently being administered, which also have good efficacy against other virus variants currently in circulation.

Who can and should get vaccinated

- Vaccination is available to all interested persons 12 years of age and older
- Vaccination is strongly recommended to prevent severe disease progression persons over the age of 65 as well as particularly vulnerable persons with chronic diseases and pregnant women.
- Vaccinated is thereby a single vaccine dose of a vaccine adapted to the Omikron variant XBB.1.5, since it is to be assumed that children and adults from the completed 5 years of age with over 95% probability already had virus contact and/or are vaccinated. A basic immunization is therefore usually no longer needed, since this already exists in the immunological sense.
- Vaccination can also reduce the risk of post-COVID-19 syndrome.
- The minimum interval from the last vaccination or last confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection is 6 months.
- For severely immunodeficient individuals special vaccination schedules apply in close consultation with the treating physicians.
 - Seek advice from your health care provider regarding vaccination.
