COVID-19 Vaccinations
COVID-19-Vaccinations in Autumn / Winter 2024
Since July 1, 2024 COVID-19 vaccinations have been offered by doctors in their medical practices in the same way as other vaccinations. The costs of the COVID-19 vaccination are covered by compulsory health insurance. A co-payment is payable on benefits provided by compulsory health insurance.
Who can and should get vaccinated
- All interested persons 12 years of age and older can be vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2.
- The current and already approved vaccines adapted to the JN.1 virus variant from the two manufacturers Moderna and Pfizer can be vaccinated.
- Vaccination is strongly recommended to prevent severe courses of the disease in people over the age of 65 and particularly vulnerable people with chronic illnesses as well as pregnant women.
- The minimum interval to the last vaccination or last confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection should be at least 6 months.
- Special vaccination schedules apply to severely immunodeficient people in close consultation with the treating physicians.
- Vaccination can also reduce the risk of post-COVID-19 syndrome.
- Other vaccinations with inactivated vaccines (such as the flu vaccine) can be given simultaneously with, before or after a COVID-19 vaccination.
- The ideal time for the COVID-19 vaccination is like for the flu vaccination between mid-October and mid-December.
- Seek advice from your health care provider regarding vaccination.
