Registration of a replacement vehicle

A replacement vehicle may only be used if the properly registered vehicle is temporarily out of circulation due to repair, conversion, etc., and is later reused by the same owner.

The license plates may only be transferred to the replacement vehicle when the owner is in possession of the replacement vehicle license, otherwise he will be liable to prosecution and the liability insurance company will have a right of recourse in the event of damage.

The replacement vehicle identification card is issued for one month. The replacement vehicle registration card shall be returned to the Office of Road Traffic immediately after its expiration.

We ask you to provide us with the following documents:

• Form "Application for a vehicle registration card for a replacement vehicle"
• Previous vehicle identification card (this remains in the possession of the motor vehicle control until the replacement vehicle identification card has been returned to the Office of Road Traffic 
• The original vehicle documents of the replacement vehicle
