Teaching Staff Act (LPersG)

In its public session on June 14, 2024, Parliament discussed and adopted the amendment to the Teachers' Service Act in accordance with BuA No. 52/2024 at its 2nd reading

The new law, which has been renamed the Teaching and School Assistance Personnel Act - in short: Teaching Personnel Act (LPersG) - will thus formally enter into force on August 1, 2024

The amendments to the law mainly affect the following areas:

  •  Scope and designation of the law
  •  Permanent and fixed-term employment contracts
  •  Equality of teaching staff in PS and KG
  •  Employment relationships in job sharing
  •  Delegation standard regarding the authority to regulate the assessment of teaching staff
  • The implementation of individual amendments to the law is taking place gradually in many areas. In particular, the employment contracts of teaching and assistant staff are gradually being converted into open-ended contracts. Both the Legal Department and the Support Division of the Office of Education are already working at full speed on the implementation of the Teaching Staff Act
