The innovation checks support Liechtenstein small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with at least three years of economic activity in innovation activities in collaboration with recognized research institutions worldwide.

They are intended to provide targeted impetus for the continuous development of the Liechtenstein SME landscape in collaboration between SMEs and recognized research institutions worldwide. This collaboration has great potential for further development for the SMEs and at the same time contributes to the transfer of know-how that is important for both sides.

On the one hand, the research institutions benefit from proximity to the market and can receive income through funding instruments (third-party funds). On the other hand, SMEs benefit from the scientific know-how of the research institutions. In addition, employees and students can become potential employees for SMEs through these projects (“War for Talents”).
