Natural persons in Liechtenstein and abroad can apply for an eID.li. |
How can I register for the eID.li? |
To obtain an eID.li, you must register at the Migration and Passport Office. This can be done on site in Vaduz or via video identification. |
Is there a minimum age for eID.li? |
There is no minimum age, anyone can apply for an eID.li. Minors and persons with a guardian can only register in-person at the Migration and Passport Office in Vaduz if accompanied by a legal representative. Video identification is not available for minors.

Can I be represented for the registration process? |
No. It is mandatory to appear in person for registration, either at the Migration and Passport Office in Vaduz or using video identification. |
What does the eID.li cost? |
The eID.li is free of charge, as is the in-person registration at the Migration and Passport Office in Vaduz. Costs are incurred for registration via video identification (see www.videoid-eid.li/ for current pricing). |
Do I have to report changes to my personal details, e.g. after getting married? |
Persons with a residence status in the Principality of Liechtenstein do not have to report any changes. Persons residing abroad must notify the Migration and Passport Office of changes of the name or the civil status. |
Where can I log in with eID.li? |
You can log in to all services offered by the National Administration at https://www.llv.li. |
Can I use the eID.li in another country? |
Everyone who has obtained the eID.li in-person at the Migration and Passport Office can use it to access electronic services of other EU/EEA Member States, provided that eIDAS interoperability is supported. Liechtenstein citizens who have obtained the eID.li via video identification can access some, but not all, electronic services of other EU/EEA member states, provided that eIDAS interoperability is supported. Persons without Liechtenstein nationality who have obtained the eID.li via video identification cannot access electronic services of other EU/EEA member states. |
Where can I find the eID.li app? |
The eID.li app is available for Android in the Google Play Store and for iOS in the Apple Store. |
Is every mobile device suitable for eID.li? |
eID.li is available for iOS from version 13.0 and Android from version 7.0. |
Can I use the eID.li on more than one mobile device? |
No. The eID.li app is bound by cryptographic measures to the mobile device that was used for registration. The eID.li cannot run on more than one mobile device at a time. |
Can I use the eID.li on several end devices? |
No. The eID.li app is bound by cryptographic measures to the mobile device that was used for registration. Simultaneous use on more than one mobile device is not possible. |
Can I transfer my eID.li to a new mobile device? |
Yes, you need the new and the old mobile device at the same time. The eID.li app offers a special function for the transfer of the eID.li to the new mobile device. |
I have lost my mobile device, what should I do? |
After you lost your mobile device, you need to register again. You must identify yourself in-person at the Migration and Passport Office in Vaduz or via video identification at www.videoid-eid.li/. |

How do my digital proofs go in my eID.li app? |
For each proof that is in your name according to the National Administration's registers, a digital proof is automatically loaded into your eID.li app. |
What are the available digital proofs? |
Currently available proofs: mobile driver's license, cross-border commuter registration confirmation GMB. |
Why are there no digital proofs in my eID.li app? |
Make sure you always use the latest version of the eID.li app. If the problem persists, please contact the Helpdesk. |
Why can't I see my mobile driver's license in the eID.li app? |
For technical reasons, the traditional, paper-based the driver's license cannot be transposed into a digital proof. It is recommended that you replace the paper version of your driving license for a modern one in credit card format. This can be done by sending a form by postal mail, online or at the counter. Once the replacement is done, the mobile driving license will be available in your eID.li app. |
How can I use my mobile driver's license? |
Information on how to use your mobile driver's license can be found on the website of the National Road Office (NRO) of the Principality of Liechtenstein. |
Who is responsible for the security of my eID.li? |
Every holder is responsible for their own security. They must ensure that unauthorized persons are not given the opportunity to use the eID.li app. The password must be kept strictly secret. |
Is someone else allowed to use my eID.li app, e.g. a family member? |
No. eID.li is your personal digital identity and may only be used by you, the authorized eID.li holder. It is prohibited to give the eID.li to another person for use, e.g. by handing over the mobile device and disclosing the app's password. |
Where is my data stored? |
All personal data is stored on computers of the National Administration of the Principality of Liechtenstein. The technical control data for the eID.li app is stored on computers in the European Economic Area EEA. In a video identification, personal data is collected by the provider of the video identification service, and transferred to the Migration and Passport Office and finally deleted. |
What data is stored in the eID.li app? |
Except for digital proofs, which shall be available even if the network connection is lost, no personal data is stored in the eID.li app. When logging into an electronic service, the eID.li app receives the personal data from the National Administration's register on the fly, then discards it immediately after the identification or authentication. |
Who has access to the data in my eID.li app? |
During the login procedure with a digital service, the eID.li app receives the name, first name and date of birth from the National Administration's register, then submits that information to the service for identification or authentication. The data is transmitted in encrypted form and cannot be viewed or stolen. |
What happens to the biometric data in the eID.li app? | Biometric functions, like fingerprint matching or facial recognition, are provided by the mobile device, not through an app. The eID.li app uses the device's biometric function as a helper but has no access to biometric data at all. |
I have forgotten my password, what do I have to do? |
No one knows your password and it cannot be recovered by the helpdesk, that's why you must identify yourself again at the Migration and Passport Office, either on site in Vaduz or via online identification at www.videoid-eid.li/. After the identification, the eID.li app will prompt you for a new password. |
How do I block my eID.li? |
Blocking the eID.li can only be requested in person at the Migration and Passport Office, either on site or by telephone on +423 236 61 41. |
What does the blocking do? |
Blocking means that the eID.li app can no longer be used. |
How can I unlock my blocked eID.li? |
To unlock your eID.li, you must identify yourself at the Migration and Passport Office, either on site in Vaduz or via online identification at www.videoid-eid.li/. |
How can I delete my eID.li? |
The deletion can be requested at the Migration and Passport Office during office hours, either on site or by telephone on +423 236 61 41. |
What happens after deletion? |
Deletion causes the eID.li-related data to be irretrievably deleted from all information systems of the National Administration and the eID.li can no longer be used. The deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. |
