Travel document was lost

Domestically

If you lose a passport, identity card or residence card, a report of the loss must be filed. The loss report can be filed free of charge at the counter of the immigration and passport office in Vaduz or at the state police for CHF 20.00 or using the following form: https://formulare.llv.li/formserver_LP/start.do?generalid=LP_VA# A new identification document can only be applied for once the loss report has been submitted. If a loss report has been filed, the old identification document may no longer be used even if it is found again and must be destroyed

When abroad

Theft abroad must be reported to the nearest local police station. This notification is required, among other things, to have the local Swiss representation issue a provisional travel document for the journey home. Back in Liechtenstein, the theft abroad must be reported to the immigration and passport office or to the state police. They will issue a loss report for CHF 20.00. Alternatively, a loss report can be submitted free of charge using the following form (form: https://formulare.llv.li/formserver_LP/start.do?generalid=LP_VA#) Only then can you apply for a new identification document. If a loss report has been filed, the old identification document may no longer be used even if it is found again and must be destroyed.
