28/05/2024: Centralised broadband access for the mass market
Lifting of the broadband access regulation
The Office for Communications lifts the regulation of the centralised broadband access (in full: "centrally provided access to wholesale broadband connections for mass market products at fixed locations") without a transitional period.
The market analysis shows that the end customer market for internet broadband connections at a fixed location is competitive even without regulation of broadband access at wholesale level, due to the regulation of access to the physical network infrastructure. Regulation of broadband access at wholesale level is therefore no longer necessary and the existing measures must therefore be lifted.
