Municipal school board

The municipal school board is elected by the municipal council for a term of office of four years. It is responsible for the tasks of the municipal school system, which includes kindergartens and elementary school (municipal schools). The school districts are determined for these two types of school, and the municipal school council has the right to nominate kindergarten and primary school teachers, head teachers and their deputies.

In addition, the municipal school board advises the municipal council on educational issues and assesses proposals for significant and fundamental changes in the education system, provided that this affects the interests of the municipality. Its central tasks include preparing a municipal budget proposal for the education system for the municipal council and monitoring municipal school buildings and facilities
