Maternity
In the case of pregnancy, the health insurance covers the costs of necessary check-ups during pregnancy and within 10 weeks after delivery, as well as obstetric care provided by a doctor or midwife. However, the insured person must have been a member of a health insurance fund for at least 270 days before giving birth. Equivalent insurance periods with another insurance fund in the EEA area are considered.
For employed persons, there is an entitlement to 20 weeks of daily allowance, of which at least 16 weeks must be taken after the birth. This allowance is provided to support individuals during the period of maternity leave.
