General

The Principality of Liechtenstein has traditionally very well developed rights of co-determination of the people. According to the Constitution, the people can exercise their Legal Division directly through elections and referendums. The possibility of submitting initiative and referendum petitions at the legislative as well as at the constitutional level are further important direct-democratic rights.

The Government Chancellery is responsible for all matters concerning the political rights of the people - this includes the organization of elections and referenda.
 

Requirement for participation in elections and votes

Pursuant to Article 29(2) of the Constitution, political rights in national affairs are available to all nationals who have attained the age of 18, are ordinarily resident in the country, and are not disqualified from voting or voting.
