Computerized theory test (CUT)
General
Computers are used for theory examinations in the Principality of Liechtenstein; examinations with a task book and questionnaire are no longer offered. A demo version of the program is available at https://www.cut-demo.ch/
Automatic correction
The previous correction by the examination expert is no longer necessary. Immediately after the exam is completed, the answers are evaluated by the computer.
Languages
CUT theory exams can only be taken in the national language German.
Exam fee
CHF 30.00 per exam
After successful examination you will receive an invoice with payment slip by mail
Exam result
Passed exam:
Your learner's permit or new driver's license will usually be mailed to you within 3 business days, provided you have already reached the minimum age for the respective category during the theory test. Otherwise, you are obliged to contact the Road Traffic Office when you reach the minimum age. After passing the theory test and reaching the minimum age, the yellow registration card is valid as a provisional learner's permit or driver's license for 2 weeks from the date of the test.
Failure to pass the test:
You can leave the Road Traffic Office directly after the test and take the test again on another day.
Taking the exam
- Identity document (ID, passport, foreign registration card)
- Admission to the theory test (yellow card)
(without a showing these two documents you will not be admitted to the exam)
Exam evaluation
Basic Theory
A, A1, B, B1 = 50 questions / 15 demerit points allowed
Additional Theory
C = 40 questions / 4 demerit points allowed
C1/D1 = 30 questions / 3 demerit points allowed
Special categories
F, G = 40 questions / 12 demerit points allowed
M = 30 questions / 9 demerit points allowed
