Publication in the UID register
The Swiss Federal Statistical Office (SFSO) maintains a specific and physically independent UID register. This is public and can be accessed on the Internet at www.uid.admin.ch. It contains the minimum required identification details of the UID entities. These are for Liechtenstein companies:
- Name of the company
- Address of the company
- UID
- UID status
- Commercial registration number with link to FL company index (if registered)
- Note on the VAT regulations applicable in Liechtenstein
The core characteristics of companies domiciled in Liechtenstein that are entered in the Liechtenstein Commercial Register are automatically published in the UID register. Sole proprietorships not registered in the Liechtenstein Commercial Register can make the publication in the UID register themselves or apply to the Office of Statistics. The Liechtenstein companies receive the UID as well as the user name and password by letter from the FSO. After entering the user name and password, the company can check the data and make the publication.
The UID is a mandatory information if you receive trade goods from abroad or send abroad. If the UID is not at hand at customs clearance or is not known, there may be delays. However, if you have published your UID in the UID register, the contracted forwarding company, for example, which requires your UID for customs clearance, can obtain it directly independently and easily. The publication is recommended without reservations.
