Registration

The eID.li app is available to people in Germany and abroad and can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple Store and
Google Play free of charge.

Registrations at the Migration and Passport Office counter are possible during opening hours.
Please have your personal mobile device with the eID.li app installed and your identity card or passport
ready

Please note: Video identification is only available to people aged 18 and over.

To obtain an eID.li, unlock it or reset the password, you must be identified by the
Migration and Passport Office. As an alternative to appearing in person, there is the
Option of video identification, which comprises three steps:

Pre-enter your personal details at https://eid.li/videoid. The subsequent
video identification in step 2 is subject to a fee (currently €9.90), payment is made
immediately upon completion of the preliminary registration

Please note: If you want to re-register for an eID.li, you must not carry out the pre-registration on
the same mobile device on which the eID.li app is located. If you want to unblock your eID.li
or reset the password, this restriction does not apply.

Step 2: Video identification

On completion of the pre-registration, you can connect directly to the video identification service
connect. You will also receive a link to call up the video identification via e-mail if you
would like to wait a short time before using video identification

Please note: Video identification must be carried out within 24 hours of pre-registration

Step 3: Wait for activation

The eID.li is usually available again the following day, but in exceptional cases it can take up to 5
