The Senior Citizens Advisory Council

The Seniors Advisory Council is an advisory body to the government. It began its activities in 2008. The Senior Citizens Advisory Council consists of 22 members, each municipality is represented by one woman and one man in it.

The Seniors' Association

The Liechtensteiner Seniorenbund is an association for safeguarding the interests of senior citizens living in Liechtenstein. It is committed to enabling people of the older generation to lead and shape their lives in a way that meets their needs, abilities and possibilities. Care and Support Facilities

The Liechtenstein Old Age and Nursing Care (LAK) maintains inpatient facilities in Vaduz, Eschen, Schaan, Triesen and Triesenberg. In Balzers, the Nursing Home Schlossgarten is operated by Lebenshilfe Balzers. The nursing and care facilities offer the best possible advice and care to the elderly, sick and needy residing in Liechtenstein 

SPITEX Services

The Family Help Liechtenstein and the Lebenshilfe Balzers offer Spitex services. Spitex services enable to maintain the stay in the familiar environment and to improve the quality of life of the elderly and sick people. They include community nursing, home help service for the elderly, meal service and other care services. Familienhilfe Liechtenstein and Lebenshilfe Balzers will be happy to provide information about home care.

The care and nursing allowance is regulated in the Ordinance LGBl. 2009, No. 313.

Recreational activities for senior citizens

The municipalities offer various leisure activities for the elderly and run their own senior citizen meeting places with café (Mauren with integrated "coordination office youth and seniors"). Depending on the community, gymnastics, swimming, walking, dancing, hiking, gardening, etc. are offered. There are also excursions, senior citizens' meetings and celebrations - often in cooperation with local clubs, groups and parishes. The offers of the Alpenverein (LAV) are also very popular.

The Senior Citizens College conducts a lecture series on topics such as science, medicine, literature, history, law, economics, music and art. Courses on various topics are offered by Adult Education, the Resch Community Center and Haus Gutenberg among others.

Magazine "60plus"

The magazine "60plus" deals with a wide range of topics and goes out four times a year to all persons resident in Liechtenstein who are 60 and over.
