Vaduz (ots) -

From Tuesday, June 4 to Thursday, June 6, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Sabine Monauni will be on a working visit to Berlin. The visit will focus on consolidating good relations with Germany and exchanging views on economic Affairs Division and domestic policy issues
Keynote speech at the CDU Economic Council

Prime Minister's Deputy Prime Minister Monauni's visit program started with an economic policy breakfast hosted by the CDU Economic Council, during which the Deputy Prime Minister gave a keynote speech on the topic of "Liechtenstein - Economic Affairs Division, Growth, Opportunities" at Berlin's Capital Club, providing insights into the country's current economic situation. Numerous members of the Bundestag, industrialists and businesspeople from various sectors accepted the invitation and discussed the topic with the Minister. The CDU Economic Council has been an association for economic development in Germany since 1967 and represents around 5 million jobs.

Meeting with Interior Minister Faeser

The Deputy Prime Minister was then received by the German Minister of the Interior, Nancy Faeser (SPD), for a working lunch at her official residence. The main topics discussed were the EU migration pact, Germany's internal security situation ahead of the EU elections and the European Football Championship, and cybercrime. The exchange between the two interior ministers seamlessly followed on from the German-speaking ministerial formats and deepened cooperation on the aforementioned topics.

Germany as an important partner for Liechtenstein

The visit by the Deputy Prime Minister underlines the close relationship between Liechtenstein and Germany. Germany is Liechtenstein's most important European economic and trading partner. Liechtenstein companies employ over 10,000 people in Germany and are represented nationwide with over 40 branches. However, Germany is not only an important economic partner; regular exchange and good cooperation and coordination are also important in areas such as migration, civil protection, cybercrime, climate protection and ecological transformation, especially in times of a tense geopolitical world situation.
