The Liechtenstein government has decided to continue supporting the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in 2024 with a contribution of CHF 200,000 for its headquarters in Geneva.
The ICRC is one of Liechtenstein's most important partner organizations in the field of emergency and reconstruction assistance. Liechtenstein supports the ICRC annually with a major financial contribution for its emergency relief operations worldwide and for its commitment to compliance with international humanitarian law. The contribution to the ICRC headquarters in Geneva is particularly important, as the ICRC can use it where the need is greatest. The ICRC can use the contribution to finance general tasks at its headquarters or for underfunded contexts. With the increasing number of conflicts and crises worldwide, there are numerous humanitarian aid programs that are severely underfunded. Flexible contributions can be used to help where urgently needed funds are lacking.
