Liechtenstein is supporting an emergency relief project by SWISSAID in southern Tanzania with 75,680 Swiss francs following severe flooding.
Cyclone Hidaya, which swept across East Africa in early May, left devastating floods in its wake. Around 5,000 people are affected in the SWISSAID project area in Mtwara and Lindi, located in southern Tanzania. In this region, the Liechtenstein Development Service (LED) has been supporting SWISSAID's national program for many years as part of a strategic partnership. Many of the small farming families in the LED-supported projects have been directly impacted by the floods, making Liechtenstein's emergency aid particularly significant. SWISSAID is providing emergency relief, distributing food, hygiene packages, seeds, and tools for rebuilding fish ponds, fields, and houses.
