Support for children affected by the war in Ukraine

Liechtenstein is making a contribution of CHF 80,000 to the Olena Zelenska Foundation for a project to support families in Ukraine who have taken in orphans.

The ongoing war in Ukraine continues to have a devastating impact on the lives of children and families. According to UNICEF, 3.3 million children are in need of humanitarian aid, protection or support in accessing education and teaching materials. Numerous families have been separated and many children have lost parents or contact with them.

The Olena Zelenska Foundation provides emergency aid in the frontline and unoccupied areas of Ukraine and supports so-called family-type orphanages. These are large families who have taken in at least five orphans and children without parental care. The project provides the families with insulation material for their damaged homes, heating systems and household appliances as required, and the children with laptops or tablets so that they can follow online lessons.
