The inclusion of women in peace processes is one of the priorities of Liechtenstein's multi-lateral development cooperation. With this priority comes Liechtenstein's commitment to the UN Security Council's “Women, Peace and Security (WPS)” agenda. As part of this focus, Liechtenstein supports a project of the “Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue” (HD Centre) on the inclusion of women in peace processes around the world. The HD Centre is involved in peace mediation in current and potential violent conflicts. An important goal of the organi-zation is to involve women in these peace negotiations and to give them an active role.
The HD Centre is a foundation established in 1999 and based in Geneva. It has been supported by Liechtenstein since 2009 and is committed to improving the global response to armed conflicts by carrying out peace mediation as well as conducting research and promoting the exchange of experience and knowledge in the mediation sector. As a private foundation, the HD Centre usefully complements formal diplomacy with informal initiatives. In 2024, Liechtenstein will contribute CHF 100,000 to the organization's activities to promote greater inclusion of women in peace negotiations.
