Summering ordinance 2024 issued

At its meeting on April 23, 2024, the government adopted the ordinance on the summering of Agriculture livestock in 2024. The ordinance applies from May 1 to November 30 of this year. Once again, an information sheet on the summering ordinance summarizes the most important points in brief.

The summering ordinance is based on the previous year's ordinance and the "FSVO recommendations on the harmonization of the summering regulations of the cantons for the year 2024". The restrictive provisions regarding any grazing on Liechtenstein Alps in Vorarlberg will be retained due to the ongoing tuberculosis problem there.

In terms of content, the continuing problem of BVD (bovine viral diarrhea) is emphasized. Only animals of the cattle species that are not subject to a BVD ban may be driven onto the summering farm or summering pasture. The alp bailiff must check the BVD status of the animals in the animal movement database before they are driven up to the alp

The regulations applicable to the production of alpine cheese and other dairy products have been slightly adapted in accordance with the amended sector guidelines for summering farms approved by the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office FSVO.
