Liechtenstein supports a project to strengthen the United Nations Security Council's Women, Peace and Security Agenda. The aim is to integrate a gender perspective into security policy structures and strengthen global security policy by establishing a community of practitioners and a database.
Liechtenstein supports a project of the “Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance” (DCAF) with 100,000 Swiss Francs. The project focuses on strengthening WPS agenda. DCAF is launching a community of practitioners and the establishment of a database. The aim is to integrate scientific findings into concrete measures and thus integrate the gender perspective more strongly into security structures. Both the community of practitioners and the database have a direct impact on strengthening global security policy and the international legal order by helping to ensure that the international legal framework is adhered to in the field. This project builds on a Liechtenstein supported WPS research project on women's participation in armed forces by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, which examined the impact of gender and organizational culture on compliance with international humanitarian law.
DCAF is one of the leading global security sector reform centers. It is committed to promoting democratically legitimized and effective security forces that act in accordance with international law. Through a combination of research and operational experience, DCAF is recognized as a key player in the global security sector working for gender equality. DCAF works continuously to promote gender equality in security policy. In doing so, DCAF makes an important contribution to the implementation of the WPS agenda.
