Prime Minister Risch uses trip to Vienna to cultivate relations with Austrian institutions

On 12 and 13 September, Prime Minister Daniel Risch visited Vienna to maintain close relations with Austria and to gain an insight into the valuable work of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

During his stay in Vienna, Prime Minister Daniel Risch exchanged views with the Austrian Federal Minister of Finance, Magnus Brunner, on economic affairs anf fincancial centre issues. Cooperation in both areas is close and of great importance to both countries.

For his valued and constant services to relations between Austria and Liechtenstein, Federal Minister Magnus Brunner awarded the Liechtenstein Prime Minister the Grand Decoration of Honor in Gold with Sash for Services to the Republic of Austria on behalf of Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen.

The visit to Vienna was also used for a working meeting with Gottfried Haber, Deputy Governor of the Austrian National Bank, and other representatives of the Austrian National Bank, with whom Prime Minister Risch discussed the new concept of supervisory law for banks and investment firms in Liechtenstein as well as Liechtenstein's accession to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). 

Prime Minister Risch visited the laboratories of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Seibersdorf and gained an insight into the various applications of nuclear technology. The laboratories are used for research into peaceful, non-energy applications of nuclear technology in the areas of the environment and health. Liechtenstein has been a member of the IAEA since 1968 and participates in the work of this important organization based in Vienna.
