Prime Minister Daniel Risch met with Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann and State Secretary for Europe Florian Hassler in Stuttgart on January 26. They received the Prime Minister and the Liechtenstein delegation at Villa Reitzenstein, the official residence of the Minister President, for a working discussion which covered topics including improved cooperation in Europe, Liechtenstein as an industrial location, synergies between Liechtenstein and Baden-Württemberg and regional cooperation within the framework of the International Lake Constance Conference. Liechtenstein and Baden-Württemberg are closely linked through diverse economic relations and the International Lake Constance Conference.
Close cooperation and collaboration between friendly neighbors is crucial for the economic prosperity of regions in Europe. Prime Minister Risch also referred to Liechtenstein's current chairmanship of the Council of Europe and emphasized that dialogue between countries and standing together for democratic values is crucial, especially in uncertain times. Liechtenstein will work hard to achieve this during its chairmanship.
Following the working meeting, Prime Minister Risch attended the state government's New Year's reception at the New Palace in Stuttgart at the invitation of Minister President Kretschmann. On the fringes of the reception, the Prime Minister exchanged views with members of the Baden-Württemberg state government on various bilateral topics such as innovation, economic development and the challenges in energy policy.
With its 11 million inhabitants, Baden-Württemberg is one of the largest federal states in Germany. Its economy is characterized by a strong industrial sector. Numerous well-known German companies have their headquarters here. Liechtenstein industrial companies such as Hilcona, Hilti and Ivoclar-Vivadent employ around 700 people at 10 locations in Baden-Württemberg.
