Prime Minister Risch on inaugural visits to Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate

Vaduz (ots) -

Prime Minister Daniel Risch visited the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB) and the state chancelleries in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate on Monday, September 26. At the ECB, he met Prof. Isabel Schnabel, who is the ECB's Director responsible for Market Operations, Statistics and Research. In Wiesbaden, the Prime Minister held talks with Minister of State Axel Wintermeyer (CDU) and Minister of Finance Michael Boddenberg (CDU), on a range of financial and economic policy issues. Against the backdrop of the Ukraine war and the energy shortage in Europe, the German Economic Affairs Division is facing major challenges, which also has an impact on Liechtenstein industry. The Prime Minister's exchange therefore included the current challenges of the two business locations and financial centers, as well as opportunities for deeper regulatory exchange. With Frankfurt, Hesse has the third largest financial center in Europe.

Following the meeting in Wiesbaden, the Prime Minister traveled on to Mainz, where he was warmly received by Minister President Malu Dreyer (SPD). She was elected last year for the third time as prime minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, where she led Germany's first "traffic light government" (SPD, FDP, Greens). Liechtenstein also operates a number of economic offices in Wiesbaden. In addition, the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister discussed current issues such as sustainability, climate change and the energy transition against the backdrop of high inflation rates and deteriorating economic data. After the visit to the State Chancellery in Mainz, the Liechtenstein delegation, which was accompanied by Ambassador Isabel Frommelt-Gottschald, held further talks in Hesse, where Prime Minister Risch gave an interview on current topics to broadcaster n-tv, among others. In the process, the Prime Minister also made remarks on developments in the Liechtenstein financial center.

The visit of the two states was concluded by a lecture by Prime Minister Risch at the German-Swiss Business Club in Frankfurt, where he spoke on the topic of "Liechtenstein - creating big things on a small scale".
