Prime Minister Risch meets high-ranking representatives of political Berlin

Prime Minister Daniel Risch met high-ranking members of the Federal Government and representatives of the parties represented in the Federal Government in Berlin on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, and Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

On Tuesday evening, Liechtenstein Ambassador Isabel Frommelt-Gottschald hosted a dinner at her residence in Berlin. Prime Minister Daniel Risch informed the high-ranking representatives of political Berlin from the Ministries of Finance, Economic Affairs Division, Foreign Affairs, Interior, Development and the Bundestag, among others, about the FAST Initiative. The background of the initiative was presented by Daniel Thelesklaf, head of the FAST office in New York, who joined the event live.

FAST stands for "Finance against Slavery and Trafficking" and is a multilateral initiative to prevent and detect illegal financial flows related to modern slavery and human trafficking. In addition to Liechtenstein, Norway, Luxembourg, Australia and the Netherlands are actively participating in the initiative.

Among the guests were State Secretary Susanne Henckel from the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport, the Chairwoman of the Committee on Human Rights in the Bundestag, Renate Alt (FDP), the Head of Department for the Agendas of the Federal Police and the Head of Department for European Affairs of the Ministry of Economics Kirsten Scholl and Isabel Schmitt-Falckenberg, Ambassador Philipp Ackermann of the Federal Foreign Office, Maria Wienker, Head of the German FATF Delegation and David Meller from the Chancellery.


On Wednesday, the Prime Minister met with Friedrich Merz, leader of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, and Patricia Lips, deputy leader of the CDU/CSU, and Pegah Edalatian, deputy leader of the Green Party, for bilateral talks in the Bundestag. During the talks, each lasting one hour, Germany's role in the current challenging issues such as climate change, supply chain bottlenecks and the Ukraine war was examined from several perspectives, discussing interfaces with Liechtenstein as a business location.

On the sidelines of the political meetings, the Prime Minister took time for media appointments with the news channel n-tv and the German Börsen-Zeitung.
