Prime Minister Daniel Risch visited North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) on June 27 and 28, 2023. Bilateral working talks with leading politicians and the keynote speech on the topic of "Enterprise State" at the Neuland Congress in Aachen formed the highlight of the two-day visit.

The Prime Minister's visit to Aachen and Düsseldorf was prompted by an invitation from the organizers of the renowned German Neuland Congress. Daniel Risch addressed the contribution of small countries in the global community of states and the advantages of a state run according to entrepreneurial principles. At the beginning of his visit to Aachen, Prime Minister Daniel Risch met with the Mayor of Aachen, Sybille Keupen, for a working discussion on Tuesday, June 27. The main topics discussed were the Economic Affairs Division, social transformation and the Charlemagne Prize, which is awarded annually in Aachen for services to European unification. After the Neuland Congress, Prime Minister Daniel Risch was received by Rector Ulrich Rüdiger and given a tour of the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen - RWTH Aachen for short. RWTH Aachen is one of the world's leading technical universities and has around 47,000 students, 10,000 employees and over 550 professors. As a special focus, the Artificial Intelligence research team informed the Prime Minister about their research priorities. On the same day, the traditional CHIO horse show with a comprehensive supporting program took place in Aachen, where the Prime Minister was invited to the table of honor with CHIO President Stefanie Peters, HRH Princess Anne, Minister President Hendrik Wüst and WDR Director-General Tom Buhrow.

On Wednesday, June 28, the focus was on the intensive cooperation between the two industrial and economic locations of NRW and Liechtenstein. NRW is not only the most populous federal state, but also the state with the most foreign direct investment in Germany. Liechtenstein industrial companies maintain eleven locations in this federal state. Prime Minister Daniel Risch met for bilateral talks with Minister President Hendrik Wüst, Minister of Europe Nathanael Liminski and Minister of Finance Marcus Optendrenk. The talks focused on the challenges facing the European Economic Affairs Division and the implications for North Rhine-Westphalia and Liechtenstein as business and financial locations. Daniel Risch emphasized the need for well-functioning, neighborly relations between Liechtenstein and the German states.
