Planned construction costs reach record level

In 2023, the Office of Building Construction and Spatial Planning issued 924 building permits with planned construction costs totaling CHF 727.7 million. In the previous year, 979 construction projects were approved, while the average for the years 2018-2022 was 639 projects.

The planned construction costs of CHF 727.7 million in the reporting year were 48% higher than the previous year's figure of CHF 493.0 million and 58% higher than the 2018-2022 average of CHF 460.5 million, meaning that planned construction costs reached a new high in the time series dating back to 1990. In residential construction, 778 permits with projected investments of CHF 324.1 million were issued in the reporting year.
