Liechtenstein Supports Flood-Affected Social Institutions in the Czech Republic

As a gesture of solidarity, Liechtenstein is supporting the reconstruction of a sheltered housing facility run by Czech Caritas with a contribution of CHF 50,000.

In September, the Opava region in the Czech Republic was struck by heavy rains and flooding. These extreme weather conditions caused significant damage to buildings, roads, and public infrastructure, as well as great human suffering. The devastation severely impacted the lives of the affected population, leading to substantial material losses, numerous evacuations, and personal hardships.

In solidarity with the Czech Republic and its hardest-hit regions, Liechtenstein is contributing CHF 50,000 to help repair the damage. This support will go toward the reconstruction of a residence run by Charita Opava (part of Czech Caritas), which provides sheltered housing for people with disabilities. Severely damaged by the floods, this facility is in urgent need of repairs to provide residents with a safe and suitable environment once again. This assistance ensures that the affected community regains access to essential social services, which are crucial for their well-being and security.

This act of solidarity highlights the close historical and friendly ties between Liechtenstein and the Czech Republic. In times of great need, it is essential that support is extended to affected regions, helping them return to normality. This contribution sends a strong message of unity and makes an important contribution to regional security in challenging times.
