Liechtenstein Strengthens UNHCR Aid Programme for Syria

With a contribution of CHF 100,000, Liechtenstein supports the UNHCR's humanitarian efforts in the Syrian context. The crisis remains one of the largest humanitarian challenges of our time.

For years, Liechtenstein has been financially supporting the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which aids millions of refugees, internally displaced persons, and stateless people worldwide. Since 2012, the Syrian conflict has displaced over 13 million people. Currently, around 15.3 million Syrians rely on humanitarian aid – the highest figure since the crisis began.

The humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate: cholera outbreaks, climate shocks, and a collapsing infrastructure exacerbate the dire conditions. Liechtenstein's contribution is intended for flexible use, providing aid to internally displaced persons in Syria as well as refugees in neighbouring countries such as Turkey and Jordan.
