Liechtenstein continues its ongoing support for the protection of human rights defenders fighting corruption

Liechtenstein is supporting the NGO “Transparency International” with a contribution of CHF 100,000 to support the “Safeguarding Anti-Corruption Fighters' Effort” (SAFE) program, which supports human rights defenders in dealing with security risks.

Human rights defenders who fight corruption are often exposed to considerable risks. This is why Transparency International launched SAFE. Liechtenstein has been supporting the SAFE program since 2023 to promote the protection and strengthening of human rights defenders working in the field of anti-corruption. So far, the project has achieved significant success in strengthening the resilience and security of civil society organizations where human rights defenders are active. In total, SAFE has so far supported 16 organizations that were exposed to various security threats. These organizations and individuals have received support from SAFE in the following two areas: temporary relocation and digital security assistance. In addition, SAFE has developed a risk analysis and security assessment tool to better prioritize future support.
