At the invitation of Martin Frick, Head of the Office for Foreign Affairs, the Austrian Secretary General for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Nikolaus Marschik, visited Liechtenstein on 17 December 2024. The traditional foreign policy dialogue between the two foreign ministries took place during the visit. As a neighboring state, Austria is one of Liechtenstein's closest partners.
The annual meetings provide a platform to discuss the full range of common relations between Liechtenstein and Austria. Among the bilateral topics discussed was, in particular, possible closer cooperation in the area of security. There was also an exchange on EU issues and current geopolitical developments. In particular, the current situation in the Middle East and the war in Ukraine were discussed.
The discussions once again demonstrated the diversity of relations with Austria, which are constantly evolving. Following the substantive exchange, the two delegations visited Kaiser AG and the Austrian Honorary Consulate General in Schaanwald. Secretary General Nikolaus Marschik also paid a courtesy visit to Foreign Minister Dominique Hasler.
