The first photographic evidence of an otter in Liechtenstein was obtained by wildlife rangers using a wildlife camera on Liechtenstein's inland canal. This is the first photographic evidence of the European otter (Lutra lutra) since the species became extinct. In 2022, traces of otters in the form of droppings were already detected as part of the beaver population survey, but no photographic evidence has ever been found.
