Greenhouse gas emissions fall
At 796 liters per inhabitant per day (including industrial and service companies), drinking water consumption in 2023 was higher than in 2022 with 768 liters of drinking water per inhabitant per day. In 2022, 164,400 tons ofCO2 equivalents were emitted. Greenhouse gas emissions were therefore 15,800 tCO2 equivalents lower than in the previous year. The municipal waste generated in 2023 increased slightly compared to the previous year to 32,638 tons. Revenue from environment-related charges amounted to CHF 68.4 million in 2023. The proportion of forest with a high biotope value increased to 48% in 2022.
Environmental indicators updated
In the Air sector, the trend is positive, i.e. the development is moving in the desired direction. In this area, the development of 6 out of 7 indicators was assessed as positive. Climate is also developing positively. 2 out of 3 indicators were assessed positively here. There was no significant change in the areas of Biodiversity, Waste, Soil, Forests and Landscape. The assessment for these areas is therefore neutral. In the area of water, the trend is slightly negative.
