Report on commercial and hobby animal husbandry, especially horse husbandry

At its meeting on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, the government took note of a report on commercial and hobby animal husbandry, especially horses. It was created by an interagency and cross-community working group led by the Office for Building Construction and Spatial Planning.

The working group comes to the conclusion that with a revision of the regulation on the approval of agricultural-related activities (ZLTV), the keeping of boarding animals for recognized agricultural operations in the agricultural zone can be approved in accordance with the zone. The conditions under which this is to be made possible will be developed in a next step. With regard to hobby animal husbandry and commercial animal husbandry by non-recognized farms, the report shows that, as part of local planning, it is the responsibility of the municipalities to provide for additional zones (e.g. zones for equestrian sports) in their zone plan and to provide clarifications and additions within the existing zones to be carried out.
