770 people immigrated and 480 emigrated
In 2022, 770 people immigrated to Liechtenstein, an increase of 101 people or 15.1% compared to the previous year. 25.8% of the immigrants were Liechtenstein nationals. At 480 people, emigration in the reporting year was 7.0% lower than in 2021. 37.1% of emigrants were Liechtenstein nationals.
1,424 people residing in Liechtenstein moved to another municipality in the country in the reporting year 2022. Vaduz recorded the largest increase with a net internal migration of 41 people, while the largest decrease was recorded for the municipality of Mauren with a net internal migration of -32 people.

Total net migration of 284 people
On January 1, 2022, the permanent population of Liechtenstein was 39,308 people. In the reporting year, 364 births and 279 deaths were registered, resulting in natural population growth of 85 people. In addition, 770 people were recorded as immigrants and 480 as emigrants by the end of the year. Three people were registered as born and emigrated. A further three people were recorded as statistical population adjustments. In total, these population movements resulted in an overall migration balance of 284 people.
