Liechtenstein as a country of immigration

In 2023, 716 people immigrated to Liechtenstein, which corresponds to a decrease of 54 people or 7.0% compared to the previous year. 22.8% of the immigrants were Liechtenstein nationals. At 460 people, emigration in the reporting year was 4.2% lower than in 2022. 37.6% of the emigrants were Liechtenstein nationals.

1,484 people resident in Liechtenstein moved to another municipality in the country in the reporting year 2023. Triesen recorded the largest increase with a net internal migration of 31 people, while the municipality of Vaduz recorded the largest decrease with a net internal migration of -54 people.

Total net migration of 247 persons

On January 1, 2023, the permanent population of Liechtenstein was 39,677 people. In the reporting year, 361 births and 270 deaths were registered, resulting in a natural population growth of 91 people. In addition, 716 people were recorded as immigrants and 460 people as emigrants by the end of the year.

Four people were registered as having immigrated and died and eight as having been born and emigrated. A further five people were recorded as statistical population adjustments.

In total, these population movements resulted in an overall migration balance of 247 people.
