17.11.2023 - In the 2022 reporting year, a total of 5,345 companies with 36,100 employees (full-time equivalents (FTEs)) and a payroll of CHF 3,047.8 million were insured with the nine active insurers of occupational accident insurance. The number of registered companies and the insured payroll increased by 5.3% and 4.4% respectively compared to the previous year. The number of insured employees (FTEs) increased by 2.9%.
In total, 6,733 accidents were registered with insurers in 2022. This figure is 7.0% higher than in the previous year and, after a decline during the Covid-19 pandemic, slightly higher than in 2019 with 6,671 accidents. In the long term, the number of accidents has risen. On average by 0.5% annually over the last 10 years. There were also more accidents in 2022 compared to the five-year average before the Covid-19 pandemic of 6,411 accidents.Office of Statistics
