area of activity

The field of activity includes, depending on the specialized training, the manufacture, fitting and sale of eyeglasses, contact lenses and other visual aids, as well as refraction determination.

Professional qualification/further training

The professional aptitude is possessed by anyone who can prove the successful completion of an optician training course with a certificate or a diploma.

The certificate of successful completion of an optician apprenticeship or other confirmation of completion of an equivalent training course is considered to be a certificate of competence.

The diploma is the certificate of successful completion of the Swiss federal higher professional examination in the optician profession or of completion of other equivalent training leading to a diploma.

Special features

For the granting of a license according to Art. 26 Bst. b (GesV), proof of at least two years of full-time work in a relevant business must be provided.
